Style LOVE: Alyssa

Give a warm welcome to my friend, Alyssa! She’s a sophomore business major, a hair model (look at those luscious locks), and one of my dear friends who lives on my wing of the dorm, although she’s currently studying abroad in Ireland. She’s pretty tall, so basically everything looks good on her, and I am always inspired by what she wears each day. I asked her a few questions, which she kindly answered for me. Here’s the breakdown:

Dress: H&M
Tights: Forever 21
Boots: Delia’s
Belt: PacSun

1. Describe your style in three words.
spontaneous, feminine, rustic

2. What are some of your favorite places to shop, and who are some of your favorite designers?
I love H&M for their trendy, versatile clothes that are within my poor-college-student price range.  I also have some great finds from Forever 21.  I really enjoy shopping at Goodwill, too.  I love the challenge of the hunt for treasures that are inevitably there but hidden in the masses of clothes.

My favorite designer is Marc Jacobs, without a doubt.  In his words, “Awkwardness gives me great comfort."  I feel that this perfectly describes my style.

3. Where do you find inspiration for your outfits?
Often, my inspiration just comes from my imagination.  However, I do look at magazines on occasion and watch a small share of TV.  I’ll observe an element of someone else’s outfit that I like and make it my own, making my style a collage of random different styles.

4. How do you figure out what you want to wear?
I simply look in my closet and think, “Okay, which of these things might go together that I haven’t worn together before?”  Thus, the outfit is born.

5. How do you want to see your style evolve this year? What risks do you want to take?

Since I am about to join the ranks in the professional world, I see my style becoming more classy and sophisticated.  Outfits that can double as business-professional and walk-down-the-street outfits are ideal.  I plan on purchasing some outlandish dresses, combining them with cardigans, tights, and unique heels, and wearing them anywhere—from class to church to a stroll in town.
