My Current Drugstore Favorites

Recently there’s been an influx of drugstore products that have made their way into the top shelf of my vanity where my most-used products live. Maybe it’s because I live so far away from any Ulta or Sephora now or maybe it’s because the drugstore brands have really stepped up their game, but these drugstore favorites had to make an appearance on my blog because they’re that good.

When it comes to priming my face in the colder months, I tend to lean toward a more hydrating, glowy one, and Milani’s Prime Light Strobing and Pore Minimizing Primer fits the bill. It gives my skin a nice glow, and while the primer does have a hint of shimmer, it’s very subtle and doesn’t come through foundation. Speaking of base products, I also finished up a few tubes of my more expensive concealer recently, so I pulled out my tube of Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. It’s on-par with my higher end concealers and wears just as well throughout the day. I forgot how good Maybelline’s version is, so if you’re pinching pennies but need a kick-butt concealer, grab this drugstore tube.

I also finally picked up a bottle of Essie’s Wicked, the cult-classic color that’s equal parts purple and equal parts red. It’s a beautiful shade that is autumn in a bottle of nail polish, and if you haven’t tried this shade yet, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Early last month I posted on Instagram about the most affordable fall palette I’d found to date. I’d like to introduce you to ColourPop’s Give It to Me Straight Palette. This puppy is a sweet $16 and holds 12 beautiful, high-quality shadows that are matte, shimmery, and perfectly autumnal. I find it hard not to use it every morning when I get ready for the day.

I’ve tried my fair share of mascara primers, and none have compared to this one by Lancome. Then I picked up a tube of L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise Primer/Base, which is quite comparable and layers beautifully under the regular Lash Paradise Mascara. It adds a little extra length and volume that helps my mascara look even better. If you decide to try a tube yourself, I’d highly recommend picking up Maybelline’s Color Sensational Shine Compulsion in Baddest Beige. The formula is hydrating with a lot of color payoff, and the shade of nude is stellar. I love layering it with a glittery topcoat, but it looks beautiful paired with a little lipliner.
