Makeup Meets Sun Care
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that sun care is an extremely important topic I’m very passionate about. Skin cancer is a very real problem; just ask my mom, who dealt with it about ten years ago. I want to do everything in my power to prevent myself from getting skin cancer and sun damage (even if it means putting up with sunscreen shaming, which has definitely happened to me—I’m sure my other pale gals out there will agree).
If you’re like me, though, and tend to have oil-prone and acne-prone skin, particularly in the hot, humid summer months, the last thing you want to do is add more oil and more heaviness to your face. Boy, do I have two genius products to share with you that I just discovered and love!
First up is Clinique’s Acne Solutions BB Cream with SPF 40: the coverage is perfect for those hot days when you don’t want to cake on foundation but still want a sheer wash of color. The formula is lightweight and won’t clog your pores, which means less blemishes (hallelujah), and it manages to give you SPF 40 protection without having to put a heavy sunscreen on pre-makeup.
Second is Supergoop!’s Setting Mist with Rosemary with SPF 50: Why was this not thought of sooner? This setting spray will 1) keep you matte, 2) keep your makeup in place, and 3) give SPF 50 coverage without the oiliness or greasiness that comes with a typical sun-protective spray. Did I mention it also smells amazing?
What are your go-to products for lightweight but effective sun protection? I’d love your suggestions!
