L’Oreal La Palette Nude Review

Eyeshadow palettes are finally making their way to the drugstore. Can I get a hallelujah? I’m not talking about three-, four-, or five-color palettes—I’m talking ten shadows with a mixture of mattes and shimmers. Maybelline and Wet ‘n’ Wild were the first to get on the bandwagon and with admirable results. Next up? L’Oreal.

Enter the new L’Oreal La Palettes Nude 1 and 2. Two palettes (a warm and a cool), ten colors each. The L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1 is the warm palette, a mix of browns, creams, and nudes. The L’Oreal La Palette Nude 2 is the cool palette, a mix of taupes, grays, and purples.

The palettes run anywhere from $15–20, depending on which drugstore you decide to shop. All in all, that’s not a bad value for ten eyeshadows. They’re a good mix of shimmer shadows and matte shadows. The matte shadows are amazing. They blend well; they’re pigmented. The shimmer shadows are a different animal, though. They’re not as pigmented, and they tend to be a bit sheer. However, there is a way to get around this. The best fix is to use a setting spray or water to wet your brush before you apply them (or even apply them with your fingers).

Overall, I think these palettes are great; they’re not perfect, but if you’re willing to work with the shadows a bit and get your hands dirty, I think they’ll make a great addition to your everyday makeup routine. If you missed it, I filmed a tutorial using the Nude 1 palette on my YouTube channel!
