(Almost) Sweat-Proof Hair
If you've been following me on Instagram, you'll know that thanks to the bikes my parents gave Brian and me, we've been biking around all over town in the evenings and on weekends. While I love bike-riding, I really don't like what my helmet does to my hair. To be honest, I don't like what summer, outside activities, and sweat do to my hair, and the last thing I want to do is to spend time washing my hair every single day. No, thanks.
In a perfect world, I try to go five days between hair washes because I find that my hair doesn't get very greasy and that if I wash my hair too often, I get dandruff (tmi?) and really dry ends. Add in summer sweat, though, and it seems almost impossible to go that long without washing my hair. (Don't worry—I still shower every day.)
At the beginning of this year, I started testing out the new L'Oreal Extraordinary Clay line to see if it'd help me extend my hair styling. When I used this consistently in the winter, I could go a full week without washing my hair (and it still smelled good, thanks to the dry shampoo). When I use this consistently in the summer? Keep reading to find out how this helps prevent gross, sweaty hair.
Before I wash my hair and before I even step into the shower, I use a healthy dose of the Extraordinary Clay Mask on the roots of my hair. Yes, you apply to dry hair. The mask absorbs the excess oil, purifies the scalp, and allows your shampoo to be more effective in getting the last of the grease out of your roots. The first time I used this I noticed a difference in my hair's longevity between washes.
In between washes and right before I work out or go for a bike ride, I use the Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo as a preventative measure to help stop the grease and the oil from building up in my roots. A few people have said this dry shampoo is too heavy, but I think it works well in my hair and does its job of making my hair look and smell fresh. (Seriously, it smells amazing!)
The next time you're at your local drugstore and are in need of some new hair products, I can't recommend these highly enough. Next I need to try the shampoo and conditioner from the same line! Oh, and in case you were wondering, this is the best wide-tooth comb to use in the shower (and it even hangs over your shower rod).
