A look back at 2012 and some changes
Wow, has 2012 been quite the year. I’ve so enjoyed going back through this year’s photos and picking out my favorite outfits to round up this year’s pics. One of the reasons why I love having a personal-style blog is that memories were made in these outfits and just looking through the photos brings back special moments from 2012. A few include college graduation (boo ya!), trips to Salt Lake City and Chicago (twice!), one of the best concerts ever and, of course, my first post-college, career-inducing job that I love.
I can’t help but think of the upcoming changes that are bound to happen this year: a new city (Omaha), a new apartment (can’t wait to get my interior designer on), living with my best friend and making new friends. I’m excited for the new adventures to begin, but until then, patience will be my new virtue.
I’ve had the past week off of work, which has given me plenty of time to ruminate about what 2013 will look like for Re-Mix-Her. I began Re-Mix-Her purely as a way to document my love of clothes and style; now it’s morphed into a way to express my creativity and to build and be a part of a great community of other bloggers. I’ve gone from a college student with a very limited budget to a young, working adult with more financial freedom (and student loans).
For 2013, I’m looking to the blog’s name for inspiration: Re-Mix-Her. Let it be known that 2013 will be all about remixing here. For the first time since I began in 2010, I’m going to have an editorial calendar, and I think it’s a needed change. For the past few weeks, I’ve been feeling uninspired when it comes to my closet, and this editorial calendar will help me to be able to put some thought into my outfits, rather than just haphazardly throwing things on in the morning.
This is what the changes look like: I’ve picked out my 2013 staple — something I believe all women should have in their closets that transcends all seasons and weather. On the first of each month, I’m going to remix this staple, and a year from now, you’ll be able to see the 12 ways I’ve styled this item. I’ll also be featuring a new item each month that I’ll remix once a week, resulting in four posts at the end of the month and four ways to wear that particular item. Each week, I’ll also be featuring outfits that are based off of pins and magazine pages and editorials I’ve found inspiring. I’m also wanting to delve into the occasional video, as well as give you a peek into one of my other passions that I’m lucky enough to have a job working with: books.
My mantra for 2013 is INSPIRE. I want to inspire some creativity and excitement back into my closet, but most importantly, I want to inspire you as readers to live stylishly, no matter where you live and no matter what your budget.
I’m so excited for 2013 and the changes to be made! Thank you for sticking around with me for almost three years, and here’s to many, many more!
