My Current Favorite Drugstore Eyeshadows

In case you haven't been to the drugstore beauty section, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised to see the many new drops from makeup companies. I've been testing out a handful of the new releases; some have been major hit, and some have been disappointments. Some I expected not to perform as well as they did . . . but they exceeded my expectations.

Enter the Rimmel London Magnif'eyes Shadow Palettes. For the most part, my experience with drugstore eyeshadow palettes has been disappointing (although the CoverGirl palettes are great). I will admit I had pretty low expectations for these three palettes, but I've learned not to judge a palette without testing it.

These shadows are fairly chalky to the touch, but when they're actually applied to the eyes, they blend out beautifully. Whether matte, shimmer, dark, or light, each shadow is quite pigmented with very little fallout. My big gripe is that not every palette has a balanced mix of mattes and shimmers; the best-balanced palette is the one called 001 Keep Calm and Wear Gold. Lately I've been gravitating more toward 002 London Nudes Calling just because of the color scheme, but I do have to dip into one of the other palettes to make up for the lack of mattes in 002.

At $8 per palette, you could really afford to pick up all three without your wallet feeling the strain. I think you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was by the quality and wearability of these three palettes!
