The Wallet-Friendly Summer Palette
I've very subtly mentioned this a few times recently, but I'll go ahead and state it for the official record: I've been stepping away from my cool-toned eyeshadows in favor of warmer ones. Shocker, I know! In the dead of winter, warm eyeshadows tend not to agree with me, but now that summer is well on its way and the sun is shining more days than not, I've been reaching for warm-toned eyeshadows.
One new discovery for me has been the NYX Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette in warm neutrals. It's a beautiful mix of orange-browns, pale golds, and cranberry tones. Of the sixteen shades, seven are shimmer, and nine are matte. They're all quite pigmented, and the shimmery tones are beautiful when applied with a finger. The shadows are a little powdery, so be sure to tap off that brush before you apply.
The best part? This palette (along with its three companion palettes) has been compared to the Viseart palettes that are . . . $80. Gulp! I've heard amazing things about the Viseart palettes, but if I can get something quite similar that's only $18, I'm going with the more inexpensive route every time. (If you find them at your local Ulta, sometimes you can snag them for buy one, get one 50% off! That's what I did—and it was well worth it.)
