I've always wanted to try those eyelash-growing serums, but the side effect warnings scare me a bit—especially as someone who has sensitive eyes and wears contacts. I also refuse to wear false lashes every day because peeling them off and seeing my regular eyelashes is just depressing. So I've gone the slightly high-maintenance route and started experimenting with layering mascara.
The biggest difference I've seen is when I apply a priming mascara. The Lancome Cils Booster XL Mascara Primer is the best one I've tried thus far, I apply a thick coat of the white mascara and let it dry for a minute or two. Then I apply a coat of mascara (this one is in my current rotation), and if I'm feeling really ambitious, I'll also apply some fiber mascara and another coat of mascara on top. The result is gravity-defying lashes that touch my eyebrows, and I almost always get asked about what mascara I'm wearing.
I find that even when I don't go whole-hog and only use the primer and one coat of my mascara, my lashes look so much thicker and longer than with just one single coat of mascara. My one and only qualm with the primer? It's white. Why? Why can't you be black? All Lancome has to do is change that, and it would be the perfect mascara primer I'd be repurchasing again and again.
