My New Top-Shelf Foundation

If you've been a long-time Re-Mix-Her reader, you'll know my foundation preferences: long-wearing, mattifying without looking cakey or heavy, and as light as they possibly come to match my skin tone as close as possible. I had a Sephora gift card burning a hole in my pocket during Black Friday, so while I was out shopping, I decided to take a risk on a foundation I had heard nothing about from the beauty community . . . and I was not disappointed.

I'd had my eye on the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation for a while simply because of the shade range. I knew there were some extremely fair shades in the range, which caught my eye initially, but when I saw it was a long-wearing foundation, was oil-free, and had a matte finish, that sealed the deal.

If you couldn't gather from the title of this post, this foundation quickly made it into top-shelf status, meaning that ever since that fateful Black Friday, I haven't touched another foundation. If there's such a thing as the perfect foundation for me, this is it. It truly is long-wearing and combats shine like no other foundation I've tried. It is fairly transfer-resistant (definitely not transfer-proof), and it's one of those rare foundations that actually looks better the longer you wear it. It does creep into my laugh lines and other fine lines, but that's nothing unusual for a foundation these days. The best part? The shade 100 Ivoire N is my perfect shade—I don't have to lighten it like I have to do with 95% of my other foundations.

It's a pricey little foundation, but if you're on the hunt for something mattifying and long-wearing, I'd highly recommend going into your Sephora and asking for a sample of the foundation. I think you'll fall in love with it, just like I did.
