Mattifying Primer Showdown
As I'm sure you've heard me lament about before (if you've been a longtime RMH reader), my biggest skin concern is combatting oiliness, particularly in the summer. I've tried my fair share of mattifying lotions, powders, primers—you name it, I've likely tried it. My go-to for years has been Becca's Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, which worked well but tended to be a bit finicky in how it would ball up really easily if I applied too much or worked it into my skin too much.
Welcome two new (to me) players into the mattifying primer game! My first pick is perfect for anyone on a budget: No7 Beautifully Matte Make Up Base. It's available at Target and reminds me a lot of my holy-grail Becca primer. It works relatively well in preventing oil, but like the Becca primer, it can be difficult to work with if you apply too much.
The second player in the mattifying primer game is Make Up For Ever's Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I can't get enough of this primer! While I do notice some definitely glow to my skin at the end of the day, this primer keeps oil at bay the best out of all the primers I've used. It's lightweight when I apply it, and it doesn't have that sticky quality that makes a primer ball up on your skin.
I hope you found this helpful if you're looking for something to combat oil during the summer! Do you have any recommendations for me?
