Holiday Party Survival Guide
'Tis the season for holiday parties—and often that means beautiful dresses and sparkly (but tiny) clutches to try to hold all the essentials that will last you throughout the night. Your beauty products should do double-duty for you if you're sacrificing the space in your clutch to bring them along to the festivities. Here are my beauty must-haves for surviving a holiday party—all available at Ulta Beauty!
- Long-lasting, non-smudging lips are essential for all the drinking and eating during the party. I like to use Rimmel London's Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in Enchantment and layer Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso on top. The two together are long-lasting matte magic, and they're a true, festive red.
- Because matte lipsticks can be drying, I like to keep a tube of lip gloss in my handbag. It can moisturize my lips in a pinch, but it can also be mattified in a pinch with powder and a tissue. My favorite is Lancome's Juicy Tube Ultra Shiny Gloss in Pure. If my lips are in need of a boost of moisture but I want to keep the matte look, I'll apply the gloss on top of the liquid lipstick. Then I'll put a tissue on top of the gloss and blot on top of the tissue with a mattifying powder I have in my clutch. Don't worry—the powder won't transfer to your lips, but it will take away the shine, leaving you with a refreshed matte lip.
- Aside from using the mattifying powder for lips, I do like to blot and touch up with the powder. My favorite is NYX Cosmetics' Blotting Powder, which comes with a mirror and puff inside. It's the perfect clutch size, too!
- The last thing I make sure I carry with me is a hand lotion. My favorite is The Body Shop's Almond Hand and Nail Cream. It's fantastic for getting rid of any dry cuticles, but I love using it for taming any crazy hair flyaways that are misbehaving.
What do you keep in your clutch to survive a holiday party?
